![]() ![]() Tried a few different knots but everynow and then one would always give. Even good mono is cheap, and easy to rig with crimps. i was using the gangion line aswell for the last 10. It's so stiff that it wants to stay straight all the time and tangles are non existent. Mono works very well for most situations. The line is ultra narrow when loaded, but gloved hands made for easy climbs. Aramid costs of around £7,500 for the Dehler 38 are 40-60 more than rod rigging. I experimented with a 8mm static line, using drt and a blakes. HMPE (Dyneema/Spectra) Cables to rig a Dehler 38 would cost £2,900-3,700. In an emergency situation Dyneema is harder to cut than mono. To clarify: If you have an Amsteel/Dyneema loop on your hammock, you can tie a Becket Hitch to it using webbing or a sheathed line and it will work fine.In my testing, using an Amsteel line to an Amsteel loop is a slippery combination. Wire and rod rigging a Dehler 38 with standard 1×19 wire or Nitronic rod, would be an estimated £2,280 for wire and around £5,000 for rod. You'll need to be proficient at tying a non-slip knot for attachment to the spear, but you don't need any additional items like crimps and a crimper like you do with mono. But any cord slows the shaft a little more than mono because mono is so smooth there's very little resistance as it's pulled through the water. It's very strong, stronger than the slipping weight of mono through a crimp. It's stiff because of it's core + jacket construction with the jacket having a very tight weave. Suitable for all kinds of electric winch. These blocks are far more compatible with Dyneema/Spectra lines. The best HMPE shooting line is the stiffest, specifically the one we use for wishbone line. The electric winch rope is easy to use, can be widely used in small winches and so on. The Dyneema Link can also be removed and replaced by a shackle, custom lashing or strop. The Arborist line even when it's made of HMPE is not a good choice for this application as it's quite soft/limp. You'd have to use very stiff HMPE for shooting line otherwise it difficult to manage in the water, softer cord will coil and knot easily. ![]() Dyneema and Spectra are brand names, the technical name for this type cord is HMPE and sometimes UHMWPE.
